The Environment Council of Rhode Island is a coalition of more than 60 Rhode Island organizations that advocate for policies to protect and enhance the environment. Our policy priorities would address some of Rhode Island’s most pressing environmental issues.
Our mission is to promote and enhance the natural and cultural features of the Saugatucket River and its watershed for the benefit of the river and its surrounding lands and community.
The Narrow River Preservation Association (NRPA) works to preserve, protect, and restore the natural environment and the quality of life for all communities within the Narrow (Pettaquamscutt) River Estuary and Watershed.
In a partnership with the Eastern RI Conservation District, Melville Elementary School in Portsmouth will create a rainwater garden to manage stormwater runoff on the school grounds.
Waddington Elementary School in East Providence received a $250 award to install "No Littering" signage along the stream they are studying.
Students will conduct water quality testing in Mashapaug Pond.

This act would amend the general law on the clean water finance agency to permit use of the money in the revolving fund to repair and improve the infrastructure.

This act would repeal the provision of the general laws requiring water suppliers to formulate a program for the installation of radio frequency reading systems. This act would also provide that water suppliers bill quarterly or less frequently by December 31, 2013.
